The Mizoram Youth Commission Act, 2008, enacted by the Mizoram Legislative Assembly, aims to address the needs and concerns of the youth population in the state. Established as a body corporate with headquarters in Aizawl, the Commission is tasked with guiding, assisting, promoting, and developing youth welfare and development initiatives. The Act defines 'youth' as individuals aged between 13 and 35 years and outlines the composition and functions of the Commission. It mandates the appointment of a Chairperson and members by the Governor, with provisions for co-opting experts in youth welfare. The
Chairman and members serve a term of three years and may be eligible for reappointment, subject to certain conditions.

Furthermore, the Act ensures protection for Commission members and employees from legal proceedings for actions taken in good faith. This provision safeguards the Commission's functioning and promotes the effective implementation of youth welfare initiatives. Overall, the Mizoram Youth Commission Act, 2008, provides a comprehensive framework for addressing the welfare and development of youth in Mizoram. Through its powers, functions, and financial provisions, the Commission strives to uplift the youth population and contribute to their holistic development.
